4.) FOCUS Community Development Corporation invites Employers to attend their next Free Employer Workshop-Employment Law.  We are very fortunate to have Adrian Miedema presenting; he grew up in the area and is familiar with our community. Adrian is a partner in the Toronto Employment Law group of the national law firm, Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP. He advises and represents employers in employment, human rights and health and safety matters. He appears before employment tribunals and all levels of the Ontario courts on behalf of employers. He also advises employers on strategic considerations in employment policy and contracts, as well as on employment issues in corporate transactions.

5.) Matthews House Hospice is looking for volunteers to continue their programming.  30 Hour Client Training Course - Matthews House Hospice will be holding a 30-hour volunteer client support training program this winter.  On 5 consecutive Tuesdays from February 1, 8, 15, 22 and March 1, 2011, from 9:30am to 3:30pm.  This very informative course will equip volunteers to provide emotional, practical and social support to in-home clients and their loved ones.  Please contact Anne at 705-435-7218, ext. 26 to reserve your seat and for additional information.  Matthews House volunteers provide non-medical support.  Companionship, listening, comfort, transportation, and caregiver relief, just to name a few, are all part of volunteer program.  Please join us, and make a difference.

6.) You have been invited to submit your work to be juried in The Emerging Artists Show for 2011!  The EMERGING ARTISTS is a juried show of two and three dimensional art sponsored by the South Simcoe Arts Council and the Millpond Art Group in Alliston.  Receiving artwork at the Millpond Café (upper level) located at 106 Victoria St. W. in Alliston on Saturday January 15, 2011,  10 am – 12pm. 705-435-2378.  We hope that you will share this opportunity with any artists you think may be interested as well.  Event information and application forms are also available on our website at www.southsimcoeartscouncil.com
