Alliston BIA Sponsored Events: Perfect Potato Salad Competition - Making a comeback to the Alliston Potato Festival for a third year is the Perfect Potato Salad Competition. Local restaurants can enter their best mayonnaise and/or vinegar based potato salad that they have prepared from 5 lbs of their choice of white or red potatoes from the Alliston area. The tasty samples will then be 'tastefully evaluated' by a prestigious panel of judges against other entrants. The winning restaurant will take home a trophy! This competition will take place on Saturday, August 6th at 11am in front of Groundswell Coffeehouse at 96 Victoria Street West. New Tecumseth Potato Salad Competition - Last year the ABIA received numerous enquiries from the private sector asking to participate in the restaurant competition. To respond to that demand we decided this year to offer the "New Tecumseth Potato Salad Competition." Like the restaurants, 'home-cooks' will also receive 5 lbs of their choice of red or white potatoes and their creations will be taste-tested by local judges. Judging for the home category will be at 3pm. Space is limited for the New Tecumseth Potato Salad Competition so be sure to register early with Christine to avoid disappointment! Ya Want Fries With That - French Fry Eating Contest And what would a festival be without an eating contest? Also making its debut this year to Potato Festival is the Ya Want Fries With That - French Fry Eating Contest. Who will be able to eat 5lbs of French fries first, and keep it down!? Come and bear witness as the inaugural king or queen is crowned Potato Festival Champion French Fry Eater! There is no cost to enter but contestants should really like French fries! Groundswell Coffeehouse will donate the French fries for this event that will also happen on the Saturday at 1pm. Pre-registration and signing of an Acknowledgement of Risks and Waiver of Liability form is required for the French fry eating contest. Please contact Christine at 705-435-1787 if you wish to get in on all this crazy potato fun.
